AXS-One announces advanced Web services for services industries

Johannesburg, 18 Mar 2002

AXS-One Inc, a leading provider of e-business solutions, today announced the release of its AXS-One Web Services.

These are flexible, Internet-based connections between people, systems and applications that allow companies to quickly create new products and services by extending the reach of internal business systems, thus creating efficient and highly optimised value chain based business solutions. The AXS-One Web services solution additionally provides significant business process integrity and management of services that are critical to the 24/7 services industry.

John Rade, Chief Executive Officer of AXS-One, said: "Over the last 24 months we`ve completely reengineered our business solutions onto a Web services architecture. We believe that Web services is the most viable architecture to support and optimise a business` entire value chain, and must encompass billing and financial processes in order to deliver on its promise of automated collaboration between people, systems and applications.

"A critical challenge in implementing e-business solutions is the proper management of enterprise transactions, in other words, ensuring business process integrity. With its pre-built financial and business process management services, AXS-One`s Web Services narrows the gap between organisations and opens up possibilities to rapidly identify, evaluate and implement new and revolutionary ways of doing business."

AXS-One`s Web services are built on industry standards including XML, SOAP and WSDL. Its Web services include a full set of proven pre-built financial services to assist in billing, collections, procurement, payments, etc., for full end-to-end control of business processes. AXS-One`s Web services allow applications to share services and exchange information regardless of operating system, platform, device or interface. Its Web Services provide a robust ticket based security envelope, modelled on Kerberos authentication protocol, to control user and application access to services and information.

Rade said: "We believe that there are three main concerns for businesses: First, quality of services, second, service effectiveness and third, seamless integration and interoperability throughout their entire value chain. These three concerns can best be addressed by a combination of intelligent self-service and fully automated, process-driven business-to-business communications. AXS-One`s Web Services are of significant benefit to software providers that want to tightly integrate their solutions with our world-class e-business solutions, as well as dot-coms, systems integrators and internal IT organisations that want to deliver new Internet services, such as intelligent self-service. Last but not least, Web services enhance our own ability to deliver new process-centric solutions in our key markets."
