Just when you thought you had seen everything as far as basketball games are concerned, Midway sneaks up on you with what has to be one of the best one-on-one/one-on-two games in recent years.
Unlike the usual basketball games, NBA Ballers takes the game to a whole new level. This time, it is personal, as you have to be able to ball till you fall.
For visual effects, the developers went all out on this one. When playing one-on-one using the basketball stars, you almost get lost in all the "bling-bling" that comes with them and their houses.
The functionality borders on amazing. For the first time, you are able to execute a lot of moves from simple lay-ups to CNN play-of-the-day quality ally-oops. This game is simply "off the hook"!
Another good feature is the fact that you can play three streams either single or two-player involving the computer, or you can build a player from an average "streetballer" all the way to an NBA professional.
Basketball fans can easily find themselves locked indoors for more than a weekend. The fast pace at which the game moves can have one in a trance. Yes, you might forget to eat with this one, let alone remember to water the plants or feed the dogs.
The set designs are based on actual NBA stars` homes. The action replay is also an added bonus, but can be upsetting if you are the one losing.
This is a must-have for the basketball lover, as it brings a new dimension to previous games that are too team-oriented. It allows a player to learn a single player`s strengths and master them to outclass any opponent.
It also features top NBA players from all the conferences. The impressive thing is that they all come with the actual attributes of the real-life player.
As if the game being so great is not enough, the soundtrack will blow the average eardrums out of their sockets. It features some of the most popular and underground hip-hop hits around and the presence of MC Supernatural adds the cherry on top.
On the scale of one to 10, I have to give this one a perfect 10. I might be biased, but hey I am a basketball (Lakers) fan and I find myself getting less sleep nowadays. This is proof that the game was made with people like me in mind.
