Bank rolls out centres
The Bangladesh Bank has started setting up 10 000 digital centres for IT-based banking and insurance services, writes The Financial Express.
The initiative focuses on the grassroots level of the country, with the implementation of the plan depending on the good intention of banking and financial institutes. The project will create self-employment for 100 000 unemployed women in three years.
"This is a visionary project and the centres will be set up under a small to medium-size enterprise programme," says Atiur Rahman, governor of Bangladesh Bank.
Egypt, UK in SME tech talks
Egypt's minister for trade and industry, Rachid Mohamed, says the country has more to offer than simply being a tourist site, according to Global Arab Network.
The minister opened the Egyptian-Britain Business council talks to highlight business opportunities in education, technology and retail.
“There are significant opportunities for smaller, hi-tech start-up companies, particularly in ICT and education,” says Mark Prisk, BIS minister of state for business and enterprise. ”I want to ensure more British SMEs are positioned to take advantage of opportunities in the Egyptian market.”
Empa to distribute ESET in Saudi Arabia
ESET has signed a partnership agreement with Empa, an IT distribution company, to distribute ESET's anti-virus solutions in Saudi Arabia, states PR-USA.
Under the agreement, Empa will promote ESET NOD32 and ESET Smart Security to the corporate, SME and retail segments across the kingdom.
“As ESET looks to strengthen their market position in Saudi further, we are committed to offering them our full fledged support to help them achieve their goals. We plan to promote ESET in the corporate, SME and retail segments through our existing dealer channels in KSA,” says Naeem Hamami, country manager, Empa.
