SA's interbank clearing house, Bankserv, has bought a document management company.
The deal, for an undisclosed amount, will see Document Solutions International (DSI) become part of the Bankserv stable.
Bankserv is responsible for most interbank payments in SA.
CEO Pieter Cilliers says document composition, management and processing - known in commerce and industry as “integrated document management solutions” - has long been a daunting challenge.
“In the context of the billions of documents created every working day, organisations spend more money than they realise on output management, owing to their reliance on paper-based information,” he notes.
DSI, which was established nearly six years ago, has offices in SA and Australia, and provides technical support to customers in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, SA and Malaysia.
Cilliers explains that DSI has developed expertise and experience in developing and implementing document solutions for the financial, insurance, telecommunication and government sectors.
The deal will allow Bankserv's clients access to secure and personalised communication, information governance and enterprise print management, and postal optimisation.
“In addition, because of DSI's price point, Bankserv's clients will be able to see meaningful cost savings,” Cilliers claims.
