Barclays goes mobile
Barclays is now offering a mobile banking service to extend the reach of its online banking, says silicon.com.
Barclays.mobi is accessible via a link on any Web-enabled phone and the free service will initially allow the currently registered customers to check their balances and statements.
The interface is a version of the Barclays Web site, which has been adapted for viewing on a mobile phone.

The Manipal University in India is offering courses on e-banking because the sector is growing so fast there is a dearth of skilled labour, says Konikani World.
The course, BBM in e-banking and finance, is a three-year course, and covers subjects such as banking technology, e-business, Web design and standalone computer systems.
The course also includes a summer group project for students in their fifth semester, and has some practical experience in public sector, foreign and new-generation banks.
BankTechAsia 2007 opens
The BankTechAsia conference is opening on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur and aims to improve Malaysia's banking sector, says Bernama.com.
The conference takes place over three days and about 150 to 200 delegates are expected to attend.
Topics include: Banking technology in the Asia Pacific, demonstrating ROI for banking technology investments, and adopting a risk-intelligence approach to security risk.
