Barclays, Xansa contract extended

Outsourcing and technology company Xansa has extended the extension of its contract with Barclays, reports Wall Street and Technology.

This new arrangement, already in place for 15 years, will be delivered through the existing venture that is jointly owned by Barclays and Xansa with a shareholding split of 51:49 respectively.

The joint venture will continue to supply applications management and major change programs to Barclaycard. The joint venture contract has also been expanded to encompass some of the services currently delivered to the wider Barclays Group by Xansa.

BPO trends, developments across Asia-Pacific

BPO is still in its nascent stages in many parts of Asia Pacific except Japan (APEJ) even as the region enters 2006, reports CIO Asia.

In 2004 and 2005, vendors expected a boom in BPO with many touting the next big thing to occur in APEJ. Nevertheless, large BPO contracts were few and the adoption rates in many parts of the region were conservative and piecemeal.

APEJ spending on BPO services exceeded $6 billion in 2005 and IDC estimates the market to surpass $12 billion by 2009 at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 19%.
