Leading South African software specialist Bateleur Software Solutions has signed a bilateral distribution agreement with Blenheim Software International, a UK-based organisation which specialises in providing marketing and technical support services for global software houses producing systems software for the Adabas/Natural database environments.
Sam Selmer-Olsen, director of Bateleur Software Solutions, says the agreement with Blenheim is the first step in Bateleur`s move to enter the global arena.
"We chose Blenheim because it has a software utility which will deliver extensive benefits to our South African client base," he says. "In addition, Blenheim has built up considerable expertise and commitment over the past 10 years, to the point where almost half the active UK Adabas mainframe market uses its software products."
In terms of the agreement, Blenheim will represent Bateleur Software Solutions in the UK and Holland. The Bateleur products to be marketed and supported by Blenheim include the Adasplit archiving utility, the Adasort sequencing utility, ZipDitto zip utility software and Estrip, an extender for the Adastrip data extraction utility.
Eric Stannard, managing director of Blenheim Software International, says the Bateleur product portfolio complements Blenheim`s existing offering. "Bateleur`s products solve very real problems for large organisations. They address a gap in the market and we are confident this agreement will deliver tangible benefits to our customers."
Blenheim`s Peek Adabas file browser and editor is a software utility which allows developers to easily find and examine data in an Adabas file. With Peek, all data on any file is accessible with just a few keystrokes, directly from the editor, and in virtually any sequence. Features include "UPDATE", "COPY" and a positive display of every PE/MU element.
"To develop, test and debug applications, programmers need to examine the data in Adabas files," Stannard points out. "This often results in programmers spending valuable time on activities such as maintenance, standards, library management and security. Peek delivers the answers to data-related questions quickly, freeing programmers to focus on development."
Commenting on whether the company plans to sign further distribution agreements, Selmer-Olsen says: "Bateleur is already partnering with other market leaders such as Treehouse and CCA. We are looking forward to establishing close working relationships with other industry leaders and developing a strong presence for our products in global markets."
