Bateleur has launched its locally developed debt management software which the company says fills a gap in traditional customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Speaking at the launch of the Pro-2-Col financial software in Johannesburg today, Bateleur Financial Solutions MD Martyn Joyce described the solution as a proactive cash management tool.
Joyce said managing the debtors book also forms part of managing customers, and added to this is the fact that companies overlook their debtors books as a large source of cash for acquisitions and growth.
"Too much time is spent by collections departments chasing up the really small cheques, while the worthwhile debts are ignored," explained Joyce.
"The last thing a company needs is for its credit controllers to become sales prevention officers."
The software automates the many processes involved in cash collection, as well as allowing companies day-to-day monitoring of their debtors books. The software, developed locally for the South African market, allows for queries and potential disputes to be identified.
It logically structures workflow to ensure credit controllers manage invoices from start to finish and also assists in prioritising the collection to maximise time and effort.
Bateleur, which Joyce categorised as a conservative company, has focused its business. The company now has three divisions, namely financial solutions, software solutions and its resourcing division.
Joyce said the firm`s decision to sell its hardware division last year was taken because, "all it did was increase our turnover and did nothing to our bottom line".
While it has released an e-business tool, Joyce said the company remains sceptical of what may just be a fad that organisations implement out of fear of being left out rather than as a viable business practice.
The new software runs on a Windows platform and, according to Bateleur, can be installed quickly and cheaply at individual workstations.
