Bateleur Software, a leader in the South African high-end software technology market, has signed the agency for Serden Technologies` Interact ES workstation monitoring system. A major player in mainframe management, the deal signifies Bateleur`s move into the workstation arena.
Sam Selmer-Olsen, Chairman of Bateleur Software, says the agreement enhances the company`s existing offering and is in line with Bateleur`s philosophy of structuring an array of world-class, internationally developed software products to unlock the potential of customers` IT environments.
"Our objective is to help our customers operate at optimum technological levels," Selmer-Olsen says. "InterAct ES is an intelligent decision-making suite which measures how applications are used and their quality of service on each desktop, delivering tangible benefits and cost savings to the customer."
Based in France, Benelux, Italy, the US and Canada, Serden Technologies` customers include National Grange Mutual, EDS, Rolls-Royce, Montreal Airport, Standard Life, EDF, Apec, Saretec, MMA and Credit Mutuel-CIC.
InterAct ES is a cost-effective solution that captures the actual end-user experience at the device level, be it workstation, PDA or laptop. It monitors hardware and software resources, and the usage thereof. For example, after InterAct ES identified licensed software installed on desktops which was never used, a Canadian bank was able to reduce licence costs for this package by 40%.
"This business-centric approach to monitoring and managing the components within the end-user devices bridges the gap between the business people managing an organisation`s lines of business and the IT personnel managing the facilities and operations of its infrastructure," Selmer-Olsen says. "By bridging the gap between the two perspectives, InterAct ES enables the IT organisation`s personnel to align their priorities with the organisation`s business objectives to keep end-users happy, productive and thus directly contribute to the health of the business."
According to Selmer-Olsen, the business user perspective focuses on efficiencies and the capability of their devices to meet their daily business goals and objectives. The IT management perspective, on the other hand, deals with how the applications are performing.
"The fundamental challenge is to be able to monitor the business end-user/customer experiences by collecting, accessing, predicting and having actionable information to maximise and ensure the delivery of quality of service and service level agreements," he points out. "InterAct ES is an invaluable tool in meeting this challenge."
Furthermore, InterAct ES complies with ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library), the world`s most widely accepted approach to the management and delivery of IT services. It achieves this through IT system utilisation measurement by the end-user, creation of a universal quality index and bi-directional service level agreement definition and measurement.
In addition to this latest appointment, Bateleur Software distributes a range of software products from selected business partners, all of which are complemented by the company`s comprehensive service offerings. These include technical expertise, DBA consulting, fine-tuning, networking, product customisation and training.
