Bay releases next generation of popular BayStack 350

Bay Networks, a Nortel Networks business unit, has released the new BayStack 350 10/100/1000 Switches, the next-generation of the popular BayStack 350 Series 10/100 Autosense Switches.

The new BayStack 350-24T and BayStack 350-12T Switches provide affordable, high-performance standalone switching with advanced software features and optional Gigabit Ethernet and ATM uplinks.

"The new BayStack 350 Switches set a new price/performance standard for 10/100/1000 segment switching and complement the BayStack 450 line of high-density 10/100/1000 desktop switches," said Bay systems engineer Mark Sawyer.

"The new switches are twice as fast as the original BayStack 350 10/100 Autosense Switches and include all the advanced software features of the recently announced BayStack 450 Switches."

With the introduction of the new BayStack 350 Switches and BayStack 450 Switches, Bay offers an extensive range of switching products that meet the needs of small-to-medium and large enterprise networks.

The new BayStack 350 Switches are designed to address both segment and desktop switching needs for the dynamically growing small-to-medium enterprise market, offering affordable, high-performance throughput, flexible choices in high-speed uplinks and advanced software features and manageability.

The BayStack 450 Switches are fail-safe cascadable switches, designed to provide large enterprise customers with high-port density in network wiring closets. Bay pioneered the 10/100 Mbps autosense workgroup switch market with the introduction of the popular BayStack 350T Switch in April 1997.

The new BayStack 350 10/100/1000 Switches are available in a 12- and 24-port configurations and offer the following advanced software features:

  • Full support of 802.1, including 802.1Q VLAN trunking and 802.1p priority queuing
  • Line-rate IP Multicast Pruning (IGMP Snooping)
  • Broadcast/Multicast rate limiting
  • 16,000 MAC addressses
  • 64 port-based VLANs
  • Protocol-based VLANs (available through future software upgrade)
  • Port mirroring
  • 4 RMON groups per port
