Bay Networks has enhanced its BayStack Advanced Remote Node (ARN) access router by including the delivery of 10/100BASE-T autosensing in branch office routers. Integrated T1/FT1 DSU/CSU, BaySecure Firewall-1 security, and support for X.25 legacy applications have also been added as new features. The ARN router's performance and level of integration provide an easy-to-manage solution for the rising bandwidth demands of existing and future applications, including Internet access and multimedia. The ARN router is a key product in Bays' aggressive strategy to create more value at the edge of the wide area network. The new options to the ARN product reinforces Bays' commitment to providing customers with open solutions that meet their current and future connectivity requirements. Bays' support for 10/100 autosensing offers the option to support Fast Ethernet as high bandwidth applications and multimedia migrate from a central office focus to a branch office necessity. By combining BayRS industrial strength routing with industry leading Firewall-1 security on a low cost platform with integrated T1/FT1 DSU/CSU and auto-sensing 10/100BASE-T, the ideal Internet access solution is made possible. The BayStack ARN product is one of the fastest, most flexible, low-cost branch office routers in the industry with autosense 10BASE-T/100-BASE-TX. Because intranet use and application complexity is growing exponentially, keeping pace with bandwidth demands is critical to network performance. LAN upgrades from 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps will be autosensed and supported without administrative intervention, making these transitions seamless. Additional ARN enhancements include: * Integrated T1/Fractional T1 DSU/CSU module: The module incorporates a fully managed T1 Data Service Unit/Channel Service Unit that simplifies the deployment and management of Internet and intranet connectivity. It enables enterprises to deploy integrated high-speed branch office connectivity solutions that can be centrally managed as single devices. * BaySecure Firewall-1: Bay Networks has bolstered the requirement for air-tight security. BaySecure Firewall-1 manager simultaneously supports multiple routers with firewall agents, centrally applying network security policy. By adding integrated firewall support, enterprises with networks having even hundreds of routers can benefit from a seamless FireWall-1 solution. * X.25 PAD: The ARN X.25 PAD provides support for legacy applications that use the X.25 protocol for communications. As networks migrate from X.25 to more cost-effective backbone networks such as IP over Frame Relay, the ARN X.25 PAD provides an easy migration path to an IP based network. The integration of Web-based management and RMON features across Bay's entire line of routing platforms was also announced recently. The new Web server features enable access to the network from remote locations to monitor or fix problems, improve ease-of-use and provide consistency in data presentation for easy analysis. The addition of RMON2 to Enterprise Remote Premises Routers also supports new remote monitoring and management requirements that identify the traffic flow of applications that are using the network. Platform-based alarms and events for all routing platforms provides visibility and notification to user-defined events with alarms being sent to standard management applications for resolution. Comprehensive management of Premise Routing devices is part of Bays' aggressive strategy to create more value at the edge of the wide area and local area networks. The World Wide Web (WWW) has become the preferred method of Service Providers and Enterprise customers for accessing corporate data over the intranet. Network management data on Bay's router platforms is one more form of corporate data that Bay is making Web-accessible for its customers. Service Providers need tools and embedded services that are scalable and open, allowing them to deliver profitable, differentiated, secure, and measurable services to their customers. For this reason, Bay has been focusing on extending the BCC command line interface and providing valued-added standards-based tools and utilities that focus on solving the highly variable operational and implementation needs of service providers. The new BayRS features provide a simple and easy-to-use mechanism to access, display and manipulate complex static or dynamic device information.
