BB&D attains Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status

Johannesburg, 23 May 2005

Software development house Barone Budge & Dominick has been awarded Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status, joining an elite band of South African companies.

It has also enrolled in the ISV Solutions competency scheme and will shortly be pursuing the Custom Solutions competency scheme once this has been released.

Outlining the firm`s promotion to gold status, BB&D`s Willy-Peter Schaub said it had taken a year of hard work "and is not something that just gets handed out".

BB&D`s Johannesburg office became a Microsoft Certified Partner at the beginning of 2004 and then embarked on a concerted effort to achieve gold status.

"It is important for us and for our customers to have reached the highest Microsoft partner level as it gives us access to Microsoft`s best resources and support capabilities," explained Schaub.

Apart from telephone-based account management and a variety of training and support benefits to keep up to speed with current technology, gold partners can also take advantage of displaying the Microsoft Gold Certified Partner logo to clearly communicate their relationship with Microsoft and areas of specialisation to customers.

In terms of ISV Solutions competency, BB&D has had to logo-certify its developer readiness companion product skills matrix 2003 and will in due course certify TradeworX and Skills Matrix 2005, which is based on .NET2. So far it has received four Platform ISV logos for its developer readiness solution: Windows Server, Web Services, .Net managed code and SQL 2000.

"Basically, it means that we can ship solutions that adhere to Microsoft standards and compliance. It means a lot to us," said Schaub.
