Software development company Barone, Budge & Dominick (BB&D), which is headquartered in Johannesburg and has offices in Cape Town and Pretoria, has opened an offshore office in Cyprus, registered as BB&D Europe.
The major reason for opening this new office in Nicosia, Cyprus's capital city, is to enable BB&D to better service its existing and growing European and Middle East client base. The office will also be instrumental in attracting foreign development skills to BB&D for projects in South Africa and Europe.
Cyprus, which is in the same time zone as South Africa, is an ideal location as it is on the edge of both Europe and the Middle East, and is a reasonably short flight from Continental Europe, London, Dubai and Moscow.
"BB&D Europe allows us to better support our existing international clients who are requesting more services and skills from BB&D and are expanding their offerings across the Eurozone and the Middle East. It also provides us with access to a greater pool of software development skills for projects, at a time when these skills are becoming increasingly scarce," said BB&D executive Margie Catsamas, who has relocated to Cyprus to run the BB&D Europe operation.
