Software development company Barone, Budge & Dominick, which is headquartered in Johannesburg and has offices in Cape Town, has opened an office in Pretoria.
The Pretoria office provides BB&D with closer physical proximity to some of its key clients as well as the opportunity for further headcount growth, and of key importance, the option for some of BB&D's Pretoria-based staff to work closer to home and reduce their travel and traffic burden.
"The offices have been scaled to accommodate about twenty staff members initially. Depending on the success of this office, we may expand these premises to satisfy the demand of current project teams and prospective employees. Key to the success of this will be the use of technology and remote team management to enable BB&D teams who have members spread across geographic locations to work successfully on projects.
We see greater adoption of this type of model going forward in South Africa as traffic congestion, environmental issues and escalating fuel prices necessitate flexible and remote work options for staff. Spending two or more hours a day in traffic is unsustainable and unproductive," said BB&D Executive Director Ralf Dominick.
