BC manager placement a priority
If you have the luxury of appointing a business continuity manager, careful consideration should be given to where the role should sit, according to ITProPortal.
Often, the IT department is seen as a good place, one reason being that they may already have some IT recovery plans or solutions in place.
However, it's usually better for the business continuity manager's role to reside within the business, rather than the IT department.
CrimTrac overhauls back office
Australian law enforcement technology agency CrimTrac has flagged plans for a major overhaul of its back-end ICT infrastructure, which will enable strong business continuity capability, writes ZDNet.
In tender documents released last week, the agency said it wants to build a business continuity and disaster recovery capability to support its operations, describing its technology as "critical infrastructure" for law enforcement agencies around Australia.
The agency will create two new datacentres, one primary and one secondary, and install new hardware and network links to support and monitor its applications, with the scope of the project including all of its mid-range servers.
