BCM software lays foundations

No one can control whether or not an organisation will be affected by a natural disaster, hardware failure, power outage or other unplanned incident, but companies can work to help ensure their organisations are prepared, according to PR Newswire.

SunGard Availability Services, a provider in information availability management, has outlined the top five reasons to implement business continuity management software as a foundation of an effective business continuity programme:

According to the company, starting with analysing how a disaster will impact the business provides a detailed picture of an organisation's financial and operational vulnerabilities, impacts and recovery strategies.

Siemens aligns with Harris

Siemens' Image and Knowledge Management (IKM) business unit is joining forces with Harris to offer providers solutions for picture archiving and communication systems' (PACS) disaster recovery, to support business continuity, writes Trading Markets.

Siemens IKM business unit and Harris say they created an initiative that will help make PACS disaster recovery affordable and easily attainable.

This collaboration is intended to provide customers with the synergetic competencies acquired by decades of combined experience in healthcare and network technologies.

PHNS service providers form company

Backup provider AmeriVault and managed services provider Network Technology Group (NTG), both owned by Provider HealthNet Services (PHNS), will be joining forces to form Venyu, Computerworld reports.

This new company will offer backup, disaster recovery and managed centre services to small and medium businesses.

AmeriVault and NTG were both purchased over the past two years by PHNS, a $167 million provider of managed IT services to hospitals.
