Business Connexion (BCX) has concluded an agreement with India's KPIT Cummins, which will see it working with the global company to strengthen its delivery capability in the application services and business process outsourcing (BPO) fields.

In an announcement yesterday, Benjamin Mophatlane, BCX deputy CEO, said the relationship with KPIT Cummins would enable the company to continue its growth in the application services environment by drawing on the Indian talent pool.

The relationship is expected to aid the company's transformation objectives by meeting short-term staffing needs, while facilitating skills transfer between South African and Indian nationals. Mophatlane said mutual internship programmes between the companies are expected to facilitate offshore training for the development of its employees.

Mophatlane added that local businesses would continue to deal directly with BCX, with back-office fulfilment being handled by KPIT Cummins.

Concrete intervention

"Our value proposition hinges on understanding the business needs of our clients and engineering appropriate solutions. We will continue to develop, and maintain relationships with our clients, while augmenting delivery capability through our partner," Mophatlane said.

Noting that SA's widely reported skills shortage is hampering business growth in some sectors, he added: "We believe our partnership is a concrete intervention that supports government's 'Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative'. Instead of debating skills shortages, we have found a fulfilment partner able to provide the necessary expertise to support the growth of South African industry and business sectors."

KPIT Cummins' international footprint will better position BCX to support businesses that are expanding into Africa and globally.

"We believe this agreement is an attractive value proposition, which will assist us to win new client business and retain and grow the support we provide existing clients."

Headquartered in India, KPIT Cummins has subsidiaries in the US, the UK, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The company has a 15-year history in IT services and BPO, as well as 50 years in the audit and accounting fields.
