BEA acquires Plumtree
BEA Systems and Plumtree Software have entered into a definitive agreement under which BEA will acquire Plumtree for approximately $200 million in cash, reports Content-Wire.
Plumtree provides enterprise portal solutions to connect disparate work groups, IT systems and business processes.
Its portfolio features a cross platform portal, running on both J2EE and .Net.
By combining the Plumtree and BEA portal portfolios, BEA aims to provide customers with improved enterprise productivity by offering both collaborative and transactional portals across multiple platforms and application servers, says Content-Wire.
"The portal is becoming the major point of integration in the enterprise," said Alfred Chuang. CEO and chairman at BEA Systems.
Imkaan launches CMS Web site
UK domestic violence charity Imkaan has launched its content managed Web site, reports Creative Match.
Imkaan is a second tier national charity that aims to provide strategic advocacy and targeted organisational support to refugees. It serves the needs of Asian women and children experiencing domestic violence.
Imkaan developed the Web site to support and publicise its research, policy and training work.
The Web site is a public resource and holds detailed information, which is cross-referenced to make the site simple to navigate.
Imkaan can now update their target audiences on sector issues, training schemes and policy developments as well as creating a useful online resource for legal, government and refuge professionals.
CMS starter kit online
Vasont Systems, a provider of content management software and data services, has developed the CMS Starter Kit designed to help novices enter the content management world, reports Content-Wire.
The free CMS Starter Kit can be found on Vasont Systems` Web site, www.vasont.com, and is available to anyone.
"Technical writers are often the first people within an organisation to identify the need for a content management system, but few have experience with the software selection process," said Richard Schiding. CEO of Vasont Systems.
"Many CMS vendors provide white papers designed to help these newcomers, but they are often long, vague, or overly vendor-specific. Our goal was to go beyond that and provide visitors to our Web site with practical checklists and calculators to get them started quickly and easily."
