BeCogent sold to French rival
A major Scottish company which provides call centre support has been sold to a French rival, reports BBC News.
BeCogent runs contact centres for major consumer brands and employs 2 000 people, with 1 000 workers in Airdrie and smaller centres in Erskine, Kilmarnock and Glasgow.
It has been bought by Teleperformance for £35 million. The company was set up in West Lothian 11 years ago.
New Brunswick centre creates employment
A new contact centre in Oromocto already has 25 more jobs than Virtual-Agent Services promised the provincial government in return for financial aid and it's looking for more people, reveals the New Brunswick Business Journal.
Finance Minister Greg Byrne and company representatives made a funding announcement at Virtual-Agent Services in Oromocto.
"We are right now at 100 employees hired, so we are well over our 75 target and we are looking for bilingual [workers] right now," said Neri Basque, vice-president of information technology and strategic development for VAS.
Hinduja opens Bengali contact centre
Business process outsourcing firm Hinduja Global Solutions opened its second global delivery centre at Durgapur in West Bengal, says The Times of India.
This was its 30th global delivery centre worldwide, the city-based company said in a statement here.
The centre would primarily cater to expansion in the telecon customer contact centre operations. The centre spread across 8 500 square feet has 220 seats and uses hi-tech electronic facilities, it said.
