Nortel Networks today announced its Contivity Extranet Switch has been selected for Bell Nexxia`s national virtual private network (VPN) service portfolio. Leveraging the global reach and cost savings of the Internet, this service provides secure, high-performance connectivity to corporate networks and applications from anywhere in the world.

The VPN Remote Access service - available immediately - provides timely access to mission-critical information and scales to tens of thousands of employees and business partners. It also establishes a platform upon which a suite of enhanced, IP-based services may be constructed, including network learning, web hosting, and multimedia applications.
The Extended Community service, available September 1, provides branch-to- branch connectivity to enable international offices and business partners to gain secure access to a company`s network and applications.
