BenQ appoints new local distributor

Annex named as second SA BenQ partner

The world`s second largest LCD monitor manufacturer, BenQ, has appointed Annex Distribution, a supplier of "building blocks" to the IT industry, as its second South African distributor.

According to Manoj Tripathi, BenQ`s recently appointed local country manager, BenQ has identified huge growth potential within South Africa and the distribution agreement with Annex will broaden its reach in the local market. The company will maintain its existing partnership with Drive Control Corporation (DCC).

"BenQ has set itself the goal of gaining approximately 20 percent of the local market by the end of 2005. We believe that Annex has the proven experience, and product and industry knowledge to assist us in quickly establishing a local presence," he says. "There is very little overlap between Annex and DCC in terms of a customer base, so we believe that through these two key partnerships, we will be able to achieve our market share objectives without delay."

Annex will focus on the BenQ network display, imaging network and digital media product ranges. "We see a great deal of synergy between Annex and BenQ," says Bill Gradwell, GM of Annex Distribution. "The BenQ range of products and related services fit well with our `building block` offering, where we provide components ready for assembly."

He adds that the BenQ focus on digital lifestyle devices and bringing enjoyment and quality to life will gain popularity due the growing local awareness of lifestyle-oriented multimedia products.

The distribution agreement between BenQ and Annex is effective immediately.
