BenQ projectors record strong Mid-East, Africa growth Q207

Johannesburg, 21 Aug 2007

Global digital lifestyle solutions leader, BenQ, has retained its position as Middle East and Africa's (MEA) second largest selling projector brand for a third consecutive quarter, capturing 13.62% market share, according to Decision Tree Consulting.

While BenQ's projector division continues to lead Saudi Arabia with a record-breaking 38.27% market share, it has advanced to the number two spot in the UAE, increasing its share to 13.59%. The brand has also moved up 10 positions to become Egypt's fourth largest projector vendor.

"These results come hard on the heels of our first quarter success in MEA and highlight our ongoing efforts to develop a focused channel strategy to deliver customer-centric and service-oriented solutions across the region," said Manish Bakshi, General Manager, Middle East and Africa, BenQ.

"We are now ranked among the top vendors in the region - we will build on this success by introducing more of our world-class solutions and through the continued expansion of our presence in the lucrative MEA markets."

With the momentum in the regional projector market assisting healthy sales levels, especially for corporate and educational sectors, BenQ's projector family - which combine high performance, multimedia capabilities and design with attractive price points - has become a clear favourite.

"Technology adoption has fuelled demand for projectors and regional organisations seeking sophisticated solutions have come to rely on BenQ as a brand," said Robert Dung, Managing Director, BenQ Middle East and Africa.

"Our projector division is consistently breaking sales records and going forward, we are confident our strong partner network, customer service capabilities and comprehensive range of products will help us drive regional growth and enhance our market share."

BenQ recently introduced its MP611 projector with a unique Blackboard function and nine sets of application modes, and its SP830 and SP831 WXGA models that boast the latest innovative split screen technology.

This year will also see the regional launch of BenQ's W20000 - the second model that fully supports the 1080p/24fps standard, for HD video at 24 frames per second and has a contrast ratio of 20 000:1. The W20000 is the successor of W10000 which was launched earlier in the year.

BenQ projectors are available from Esquire Technologies, a premier distributor in South Africa.
