Local enterprise solutions company, Business Edge Systems (BES), has secured the local distributorship for Koukia, a solution that is rapidly gaining global recognition as the next generation of enterprise-wide core short-term insurance software.
According to Tian Horn, account director at Business Edge Systems, the functionally rich, integrated solution supports all classes of commercial and domestic insurance, offering full policy lifecycle administration.
"The system was developed by a team of specialists with 20 years` experience in the design and build of insurance applications. The result - technology that offers the flexibility and capability to accommodate the business requirements of an administration solution.
"Insurance companies have been plagued by the inflexibility of legacy systems and the costs associated with their support and enhancement. Koukia focuses on the business requirements of the insurance company rather than the transactional capability of the system, thereby allowing the customer to introduce or change processes to improve inefficiencies and drive down associated costs."
Offering a client-centric view of all parties involved in an insurance transaction, Koukia allows sophisticated channel management and the ability to dissect client needs in order to respond to client demand more rapidly and effectively. Koukia offers the ability to build and distribute new products expediently allowing the insurer to introduce new offerings in a competitive environment.
The solution consists of separately installable J2EE open standard components. The components interact with each other through clearly defined APIs, allowing interaction with other vendors` components, the Internet and legacy applications.
"This ability to integrate seamlessly with existing components ensures that customers continue to gain return from previous investments and, importantly, ensures scalability going forward," says Horn.
Business Edge Systems, he adds, has commenced with some localisation of the Koukia system in line with the demands of the South African insurance industry and regulatory environment.
"While the international insurance industry shares common principles, the challenges of territorial limits, emerging markets and globalisation, demand companies appoint an integration partner that understands local conditions and has experience in implementing strategic solutions that are tailored to customers` individual needs.
"Our proven track record as a preferred supplier of strategic insurance solutions will prove pivotal in ensuring rapid local adoption of a system that is revolutionising the business processes of the sector worldwide," Horn says.
