Bharti Airtel contracts IBM
Bharti Airtel, India's biggest mobile phone company by customers, has signed a strategic outsourcing agreement with IBM to further enhance its customer service experience for its top-end platinum customers, reports TopNews.
Under the six-year contract, IBM's managed business services unit, IBM Daksh, will provide voice and back-office services including customer service, collections, and customer retention from its centres.
Earlier this year, IBM secured another $150 million six-year contract from Bharti Airtel to provide IT infrastructure for broadband, media, IP television, and direct to home services.
Xhead = UK lines up £1bn in outsourcing
Outsourcing giant Satyam could close up to £1 billion in deals in the UK as it finds new business outside the credit-crunch-hit financial sector, reports Silicon.com.
India's fourth largest outsourcer has 10 deals worth between £20 million and £100 million on the table in the UK, claiming it is making headway in the retail, manufacturing and telecoms markets.
Keshab Panda, head of Satyam's European business, says the deals are helping to counter a slowdown in the financial sector, where businesses are deferring outsourcing agreements.
