Nominations for the ITWeb BI Excellence Awards have been extended to 3 December.
ITWeb is calling on SA's top BI practitioners to submit their top project for next year's second annual BI Excellence Awards to be held at Vodaworld in Midrand.
The awards will be presented at the annual ITWeb Business Intelligence Conference on 22 and 23 February next year. According to ITWeb, the awards recognise best practice and innovation in the local BI arena.
The awards are divided into two major categories. The BI Excellence Award recognises a project that shows excellence in the application of best practices as well as delivering measurable business benefits.
The BI Innovation Award recognises the most innovative use of BI tools and techniques to deliver business benefits.
Independent consultant Bill Hoggarth will be heading a panel of judges that will assess the entries and draw up a shortlist of the finalists.
Hoggarth says: “We are going to be judging on innovation and business impact. There hasn't been a time when BI has faced more challenges both inside and outside an organisation. And the organisations being recognised as being the forefront of BI innovation at these awards will be able to leverage their organisation to achieve business results.”
Earlier this year, Engen was crowned as the winner of the first annual BI Excellence Awards while the South African Revenue Service scooped the runner-up award.
According to global research firm, Gartner, the market for BI platforms will remain one of the fastest growing software markets in the world.
BI is one of the top five CIO priorities. The BI platform market's compound annual growth rate through 2013 is expected to grow by 6.3%, while the combined BI, analytics and performance management market's growth rate is expected to grow by 8.1% through 2013.
