BI improves healthcare
Today's IT applications are dramatically changing healthcare business intelligence (BI), from streamlining information flow to redefining how patients and healthcare organisations interact, reports Gather.
New technologies span from basic business processes to the measurement of the quality of patient care provided.
Since care is provided across multiple entities (hospitals, imaging centres, physicians' offices), what's needed to make the delivery of care as efficient and effective as possible are healthcare information solutions that parallel each patient's continuum of care.
Retailers lack adequate BI
More than a third of UK retailers lack an adequate retail BI system or business reporting system, according to a report, says Retail Week.
A survey of 192 retailers, commissioned by retail intelligence firm Manthan Systems, found while about nine out of 10 respondents believe reacting quickly to industry trends is vital in a recession, nearly four out of 10 (37%) were unconvinced of their ability to identify problem areas.
Manthan Systems' head of UK operations Steve Barker said a key finding of the research was that existing BI systems were often not pervasive across all departments of retail enterprises, leading to a multitude of different tools being used to analyse incoming data.
Open source BI grows
Jedox's third International Palo User Conference attracted 140 attendees from Europe and overseas, more than twice as many as last year's conference, states MarketWatch.
The conference, which took place in Frankfurt, addressed the latest developments of Jedox's Palo Open Source OLAP database.
The growing international customer forum, coupled with the company's internal workforce and developer growth (both of which have doubled since last year), reflects the company's continued expansion.
