Innovative engineering solutions group, BIGEN AFRICA, announced the relocation of its head office to a new building at The Innovation Hub in Pretoria today. The announcement came from CEO Francois Swart at the signing of the property owners' association rules and regulations at The Innovation Hub. BIGEN AFRICA will take occupation of its new building in 2007.
Construction has already started on the 6 560 m2 land parcel taken up by the developer, WBHO Property Developments (Pty) Ltd. The new building will house around 250 people, and is the second commercial building at The Innovation Hub. It is adjacent to the Sappi Technology Centre.
According to Swart, the company's steady growth over the past decade and expected growth for the future necessitated a new location for its head office. "The Innovation Hub presented itself as the ideal location, as we are not merely relocating, we are moving into the future. Our innovative approach to engineering makes us a suitable player in the melting pot of creative thought and innovative endeavour found at The Innovation Hub. We also found great appetite from developers to invest in this unique environment and are very happy with the long-term lease arrangement we negotiated with WBHO Property Developments."
The BIGEN AFRICA Group, rated as one of the Top 500 best-managed companies in South Africa, provides innovative engineering, management and project finance solutions to private and public sector clients. It was the recipient of a 2005 Sustainable Growth Award in the private company three-year sustainable growth category and was, in the same year, assessed by a Professional Management Review survey as the highest rated large engineering consulting firm in the country.
Similar to The Innovation Hub, whose tenants include innovative service providers with a business focus of value to its hi-tech community, BIGEN AFIRCA fully supports government initiatives such as the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative of South Africa (AGISA).
"Our services are aligned to the objectives of achieving accelerated and shared economic growth and development to address poverty and underdevelopment and assist in strengthening the system of local government. The Innovation Hub offers an interactive, networked environment that is conducive to innovative thought and the creation of viable and sustainable solutions for our clients," said Swart.
The Innovation Hub CEO, Dr Neville Comins, added that the presence of a significant and well-respected engineering activity would strengthen the technology mix at the Science Park, to the benefit of all the residents. "We look forward to growing interactions between our resident companies, a trend that is already bearing fruit in terms of the emerging innovative business projects and services."
