IT communication and security specialist Biodata IT South Africa has added the Astaro Security Linux integrated software solution to its product portfolio. This all-in-one firewall is cost-effective, encompassing e-mail virus protection, URL content filtering and reporting tools.
Installed more than 100 000 times in 60 countries worldwide, it is well known as a secure, easy-to-use and feature-rich security product that is aimed at network administrators who need a flexible, fast and easily configurable perimeter security gateway.
"The Astaro Security Linux presents administrators with increased functionality and interesting features. For instance, it enables the user to highlight both black and white lists blocked/allowed for surf protection and features dynamic filtering, meaning different filtering rules can be applied to each IPSec VPN Road Warrior. Easy High Availability Up2Date allows you to update the standby unit from the WebAdmin of the master unit," explains Biodata IT director Christian Runte.
Based on secure open source software, this innovative solution is easily implemented, allowing for the hassle-free integration with existing network infrastructure. Further features include load balancing to achieve optimal traffic distribution, integrated Internet traffic monitoring, reporting tools as well as instant e-mail notification of alert issues.
Version 4 includes additional content filtering for two of the most important e-mail protocols, SMTP and POP 3, as well as HTTP. This serves to better protect systems against malicious content.
