IT security and communication specialist, Biodata IT South Africa, aims to take the Southern African market by storm with its distribution of KEN! LAN-based network and communication solutions developed by AVM.
AVM is the German-based manufacturer of PC ISDN-controllers and ISDN application software. The company focuses on the connectivity between the PC and digital communication technologies including ISDN, ADSL and GSM.
The KEN! range of communication solutions includes AVM`s Fritz!Card family of products. Aside from this group of products, described as all-in-one solutions for PC data communication, Biodata also plans to distribute active and passive ISDN controllers, a Bluetooth solution, as well as Internet and fax communication software for small networks.

"The South African market has a rapidly growing need for ISDN. This could be unlimited if prices, service and installation time would be more customer-friendly. Since Internet is very expensive compared to European countries, many companies are looking for a dial-up connection. ISDN offers the possibility to set up a connection with a much bigger bandwidth than the one established via modem," she says.
FritzCard! can be applied to several Internet connections including Universal Serial Bus (USB), PCI bus and PCMCIA interface. All products are accompanied by an ergonomic software package that includes several powerful modules.
These modules cover every aspect of business communication - from the Internet through to the telephone, fax and answering machine. The package is comprehensive and flexible - it enables a business to communicate, to surf the World Wide Web and enjoy dial-in access over ISDN to all ISP`s and on-line services.
Biodata intends to form strategic partnerships with resellers and views the latest distribution deal as a definite opportunity to break into the local SME market. The company is convinced of the benefit attached to the AVM product portfolio.
