Biodata`s ISDN modem - a winner for NetActive

IT communication and security specialist Biodata IT South Africa recently supplied Managed Internet Service Provider (ISP) NetActive with one hundred Fritz!Card PCI version 1.0 internal ISDN modems developed by AVM. The feedback has been phenomenal.

NetActive is a local managed ISP that offers hosting and Internet connectivity solutions to the mid-tier corporate market. Its services include Virtual Private Networks, leased-line access, shared dial access, single dial access, dedicated and co-location hosting, domain name registration and shared hosting.

The Fritz!Card PCI ISDN modems are used by NetActive in Linux connectivity servers. "Of all the modems we have tried over the years, Fritz! has proven to be the most robust," says Blanca Williams, NetActive`s marketing manager. "With Fritz! in place we have experienced excellent driver support under Linux and industrial-level stability under the worst of scenarios."

According to Linux engineer at NetActive, Mark Dokter, the decision to purchase Fritz! was based largely on the stability of the modem itself, as well as the stability of the drivers that are offered on Linux.

"The Fritz!Card PCI v1.0 have the best driver support under Linux that we have ever encountered," says Dokter. "Many of the other modems in the field have extremely poor driver support.

"Under situations of extreme loads, the Fritz! ISDN card and the drivers supporting the card perform wonderfully. We have servers out in the field that are very heavily utilised and we have to date not had any major hiccups with the Fritz! modems."

"Biodata IT South Africa will remain the preferred ISDN modem supplier for our Linux connectivity solutions," Williams concludes.
