IT security and communication specialists Biodata IT South Africa introduces the flexible X1000 ISDN multi-protocol router from Bintec Communications. The router is ideally positioned for the ISDN interconnection of LANs and features additional telematic applications.
The product is designed to enhance the SOHO, remote office and small-business network environments.
The X1000 is a complete remote access solution and provides Internet access, dial-in and security in one device. One of its main features is the offer of Remote Access - cost-effective value-add and connectivity that is extended to the remote user.
Christian Runte, technical director at Biodata, says, "All branch workers can access the Internet as well as remote corporate networks. Fax and network services like e-mail, home banking or file transfer are also supported. Mobile workers have access to all these facilities and can work as if they are in the office."
However, as a global driver of network and communication security products, Biodata IT has kept the focus on security, especially in light of the remote access provision.
"Remote access involves an element of risk in that data transfer and information is open to manipulation or unauthorised access. The X1000 features an integrated SAFERNET security packet and includes firewall and encryption mechanisms, and remote access is handled via an Internet Virtual Private Network," explains Runte.
Users also have the benefit of an ISDN interface. The X1000 features ISDN interface auto-configuration along with other management and configuration tools including activity monitor, graphical configuration assistant and complete toolset and documentation. This all contributes to the product`s overall ease-of-use.
Says Runte, "The X1000 router offers much in the way of online connectivity. We highlight the remote access dial-in function, and instant Internet access for all LAN users. State of the art techniques include 10/100Mbps autosensing Ethernet Interface, and RISC processor for high computing requirements like encryption and compression.
