BITanium enters local BI market

Newly formed BITanium promises to become a leading player in the South African business intelligence landscape. BITanium was created through diversification by Relational Database Consulting (RDC), a long-established player in the database administration and systems management market, with a focus on bringing together best of breed technologies and solutions to serve customers' needs for data warehousing and advanced data analytics.

“BITanium was born out of a passion for delivering value to all stakeholders in the BI chain,” says Managing Director Chris O'Connell. “Our focus is on our customer first and foremost, as this is whom we serve; but also on the people we employ, as they form the backbone of our business. Having a strong complement of highly-motivated staff makes it easy to deliver well-crafted solutions.”

As a result of this singular focus, BITanium has already achieved success in outsourcing business intelligence solutions for local FMCG and pharmaceutical organisations, and has also been engaged by an Australian company for offshore development of their BI solution.

BITanium delivers solutions on a variety of technology platforms, including MicroStrategy, IBM Cognos, Oracle, Microsoft and Informatica. However, the philosophy of the organisation is that the solution architecture and underlying information engine are all-important, and that given a solid foundation, business intelligence can be deployed to all levels of decision-makers in their chosen delivery mediums, regardless of the specific technology chosen.

Derek Radue, BITanium Technical Director, says: “We take an approach where we have sufficient and credible technology independence. We have preference for delivering our solutions with certain technologies, because we know they work. However, customer value comes first, which often means leveraging existing technology investments to the max.”
