BITF issues press statement

By Black IT Forum
Johannesburg, 27 Sept 2006

Thank you for giving the BITF opportunity to make this update to our members and other stakeholders. The issues that the BITF has been embroiled in since the end of 2005 are now behind us. The main objectives of this press release are to announce the new National Leadership of the BITF as well as to update our members on key developments and plans.

It is our pleasure to announce that Paul Masemola, Ahmed Muslim, Lillian Mkhonza, Morena Ntsika, Sundy Naidoo, Livingstone Chilwane, Tebogo Makgatho, Yanesh Ramiah, Bolelang Rakeepile (Treasurer), Sipho Ndaba (Secretariat), Mdu Mkhonza (Vice Chairperson) and Mthunzi Mdwaba (Chairperson) form part of the new National Executive of the BITF. We are confident that our new leadership will take the BITF to new heights and we wish them the best of luck in this endeavour.

Our office is now fully functional and we have improved our infrastructure. Our plans in the short to medium term are

* to improve communication with our members and stakeholders,
* to increase our members participation in various structures that impact black professionals
* to continue to influence policy direction around black empowerment issues, and
* to improve participation and extend our programmes to the regions outside Gauteng, and
* to grow our women and youth membership.

The BITF representation in the GITO Council is just one example of programmes that demonstrates the support that the BITF has in engaging government in critical areas that impact our black professionals in the industry and the recent workshop with GITO Council representatives created a platform for our members to directly engagement with the GITO Council on these crucial issues.

Once again we would like to thank you for taking the time to be with us today.

Thank you,
Black IT Forum
