The Black IT Forum (BITF) is appealing to individuals within the IT industry to assist in making transformation a reality, by completing a short survey.

The South African ICT industry is faced with a number of challenges, including the global skills shortage, the recent economic downturn and poor representation of people of colour and women in the IT arena, according to the BITF.

In October last year, the BITF hosted a national conference, with the aim of driving transformation within the IT industry. Mthunzi Mdwaba, national chairman of the BITF, said the aim of the conference was to drive skills development, thought leadership, enterprise development, compliance and delivery. “To date, transformation on all fronts and BEE have taken place from executive suites and corner offices, and have not reached all the intended beneficiaries."

The survey aims to help the organisation better understand the degree of representation and participation of stakeholders - including students and professionals - in the ICT industry, and their expectations of the BITF.
