Bitrate partners with Nutanix - Virtual Computing Platform

Johannesburg, 23 Jan 2014

Bitrate has recently added Nutanix - Virtual Computing Platform to its current portfolio and is now the proud distributor of Nutanix to the South African and the sub-Saharan markets.

"Bitrate is very excited about the Nutanix addition to our portfolio; this award-winning product will be very disruptive in our market, as there is a huge need for cost-effective data centre solutions that improve service delivery," says Jeroen Dubbelman, Managing Director at Bitrate.

Alan Campbell, Regional Director WEUR at Nutanix, states: "Since shipping our first Virtual Computing Platform in late 2011, we have achieved sales in excess of $100 million, unprecedented growth in just two years. To help fuel this phenomenal growth, Nutanix is delighted to be partnering with Bitrate as a distributor across sub-Saharan Africa. The partnership is a perfect match at a time when we are investing heavily in Africa, and we look forward to working with the Bitrate team to increase market share for our next-generation solutions."

In a nutshell, the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform is a converged infrastructure solution that combines the computer tier and the storage tier into a single appliance, creating absolute efficiency.

Bitrate

Bitrate was founded in 1999 and is focused in the supply of network analysis and maintenance equipment.

Networks today have become complex and cumbersome to maintain. To keep up with this complexity, the equipment Bitrate supplies has to constantly evolve and provide improved troubleshooting and maintenance techniques. Bitrate is currently the official supplier of the Fluke Networks range of test tools and Palo Alto Networks range.

Training in the effective use of the tools is key in order to provide full customer satisfaction. It is vital so that the customer enjoys the full benefits of their investment in the products.

The equipment it supplies must constantly evolve and adapt to the latest networking environment. We at Bitrate know that in order to remain a leader in the field, we need to supply the best the industry has to offer. We constantly search for the best solutions for our customers.

The Nutanix solution

The Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform integrates high-performance server resources with enterprise-class storage in a cost-effective 2U appliance. It eliminates the need for network-based storage architecture, such as a storage area network (SAN) or network-attached storage (NAS). The scalability and performance that the world's largest, most efficient data centres enjoy are now available to all enterprises and government agencies.

The Nutanix solution is radically simple compared to traditional data centre infrastructures.

* Rapid time to value: deployment in under 30 minutes
* No disruption to ongoing operations
* Easily scales
* Powerful off-the-shelf, non-proprietary hardware
* Reduces the cost and complexity of storage
* Works with legacy components, protecting investments you've already made
* Delivers advanced, enterprise-class storage capabilities

The modular building-block design allows your organisation to start with small deployments and grows incrementally into very large cluster installations. With one appliance, you can move from a small operation to handling large-scale server virtualisation deployments, virtual desktop initiatives, test and development applications, big data (eg Splunk, Hadoop) projects, and more.

Nutanix

Based in San Jose, California, with offices and approved solution providers throughout the world, Nutanix infrastructure provides solutions for the data centre; these solutions are simple, efficient and easily accessible. The market has been taken aback by this award-winning virtual Computing Platform by effortlessly creating a single appliance serving a dual purpose of computing and storing, hence the efficiency that every business and person looks for.
