Bitrix intros cloud-based social intranet

The platform is available free for companies with no more than a dozen employees, along with up to 5GB of storage. Two versions with expanded functionality are offered for additional fees, without limits on the number of users.

The paid plans feature full Extranet functionality, clock-in and clock-out features, increased storage, meetings, reports and a company's own domain. Mobile versions are included in all three offerings.

Bitrix president Dmitry Valyanov says in a statement that the new product combines “dozens of distinct functions,” including individual and group calendars, CRM, reporting, an internal social network and project management. “Users can run an entire company from Bitrix24,” he added.

According to Stephen Ankenman, senior technology consultant for Bitrix, the Bitrix24 creates a social intranet workspace in the cloud that combines 30 content, project, collaboration, communication, reporting and management tools under a common social media-style interface, notes IT Business Edge.

That interface makes the environment simple to use in a way that can easily be extended to mobile computing devices using both HTML5 and native interfaces.

In addition to allowing users to share files via the cloud, Ankenman says the service also includes a application that is integrated with a content management system.

And the entire service can be integrated with any number of other applications via an open application programming interface that Bitrix has made public.
