bizhub goes to varsity

Johannesburg, 05 May 2011

Bidvest company Konica Minolta South Africa's versatile bizhub models have been selected by academic institution, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), to assist in achieving the university's document management strategy.

According to Warren Diakos, Port Elizabeth branch manager at Konica Minolta South Africa, the university made public a request for document management products and services that would form the backbone of its print output requirements.

“After a thorough in-house document management survey at its campuses, the needs of NMMU became most clear and we are pleased that the university selected more than 75% of its required units to be made up of the bizhub 223 and 243 models,” he says.

Jacques Wessels, facilities planner at NMMU's ICT Services, says it was largely due to the bizhub models' embedded Pcounter software and the inherent return on investment capabilities that set Konica Minolta South Africa apart from the competition.

Pcounter software helps businesses overcome the challenges of paper and other resource wastage from unproductive printing and copying and the ineffective use of colour for jobs where it is not needed.

“The software adds value to bizhub devices by offering print and document accounting solutions for a wide variety of industries, achieving enhanced productivity and cost savings for customers. This enables clients to understand their current cost of printing and document management, optimise the use of existing devices, recover costs where possible, increase productivity by releasing a print job to the most appropriate device and minimise expenses through rules-based printing,” says Diakos. “Testament to our expertise of Pcounter software is our first-rate team of in-house experts, consisting of Pcounter sales executives, implementers and developers, who played a vital role in Konica Minolta South Africa scooping the Pcounter Europe partner of the year award for the third year in a row in 2011.”

After systematic testing of the bizhub models at NMMU, the university has started rolling out the devices in order to achieve its targeted 2012 end date for implementation.
