The latest mid-range BlackBerry smartphone launched in SA yesterday afternoon.
The BlackBerry Leap is aimed at the "young professional jumping into his career", said Martin Fick, BlackBerry South Africa's senior product manager.
The touch-screen five-inch phone features HD display, a long battery life and the latest BlackBerry operating system, OS 10.3.1.
Fick said the device is ideal for those who prioritise productivity, security and functionality. He added the customisable messaging hub and touch-screen keyboard will help the user to be more productive.
Security is taken care of as the phone is equipped with support for encryption, built-in malware protection, and backup, wipe and restore, said the company. The Leap is claimed to be functional throughout the day, as the battery allows for up to 25 hours of heavy use.
The Leap is only available from Vodacom at the moment. Contract prices start at R259 per month, and the Vodacom Web site lists it as costing R3 999 once-off.
