Blue Turtle partner Quest Software offers new product to ensure continuous availability of Exchange

Quest Software, a leading provider of application, database and infrastructure management solutions, today introduced Availability Manager for Exchange 1.0.

The product, provided by Quest partner Blue Turtle Technologies in southern Africa, ensures the continuous availability of e-mail during outages by automatically moving users to a defined Exchange server.

Once service is restored, they are switched back to their original server with no data loss. The designated backup server can be any Exchange server in the enterprise, so no dedicated backup servers are required.

"Organisations rely heavily on e-mail, and productivity suffers when it`s not available," says Martyn Healy, marketing director of Blue Turtle Technologies. "Quest`s new product is a practical solution that uses hardware already in place to `buy time` while administrators fix whatever problem caused server outage."

At the same time, the company introduced its new Performance Suite for Exchange, which includes Availability Manager and Quest Spotlight on Exchange. Together, these products address the critical need to avoid e-mail service disruption and maximise performance.

"Business processes and transactions are based on the assumption of constant e-mail availability and performance, making it arguably the most critical piece of IT infrastructure. The Quest Performance Suite for Exchange lets IT proactively detect and resolve problems in the Exchange environment before they impact users - thereby avoiding potentially enormous business disruption and associated cost."

The Quest Performance Suite for Exchange is made up of:

* Quest Availability Manager for Exchange - ensures e-mail availability even during server outages by automatically rerouting message traffic until the problem is resolved.
* Quest Spotlight on Exchange - diagnoses and resolves Exchange performance bottlenecks by displaying the real-time activity of all Exchange system components in a single intuitive interface. Red-light, green-light colour indicators warn of impending problems so they can be resolved before impacting users.

The Performance Suite uses the Quest Management Console for Exchange for integrated Exchange administration. Based on the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), the Quest Management Console allows users to manage both Quest and Microsoft native tools from a single integrated console, improving overall productivity.
