Bluesocket releases vWLAN

Bluesocket has commercially released a next-generation wireless LAN, Virtual WLAN (vWLAN), reports Reuters.

A key element of the Bluesocket vWLAN architecture is the tightly integrated modules that offer robust and scalable network access control (NAC), as well as guest access control.

The vWLAN architecture is capable of doing this using differentiated granular role-based enforcement.

NAC system manages students' access

Axial Systems, a value-added reseller, has completed a NAC installation at Richard Huish College in Taunton in the UK, according to ChannelWeb.

The installation of ForeScout's CounterAct NAC product was in response to a rise in the number of USB devices and iPhones on the college's campus network.

Bill Perry, IT services manager at Richard Huish College, says: “In early 2009 we were looking for a solution to three security concerns - the near ubiquity of USB devices and iPhones joining our network, concern over unknown endpoints joining our new wireless network, and the of staff laptop computers becoming infected with a virus picked up when used at home.”

NAC Web site unveiled

Mania Concepts, a provider of open platforms for IT vendors and decision-makers, has unveiled five Web sites for emerging technologies, states PRWeb.

Emerging technologies that are covered are network access control, voice over IP, unified communications, network attached storage, secure socket layer virtual private networking, and wide area networking optimisation - WAN Optimisation Controllers.

All Web sites are already registered under DevHub and will be covering more information about these hot emerging technologies.
