BMC Software, the provider of e-business systems management, is to acquire the assets of Sylvain Faust, a Quebec-based developer of database solutions.
The acquisition will extend BMC`s range of data management solutions by adding Sylvain Faust`s time-saving SQL tools and utilities and database solutions.
Sylvain Faust`s management team, including president and CEO Sylvain Faust, will relocate to Austin, Texas over the next two quarters. Sylvain Faust`s products and technology will be integrated into BMC`s Distributed Data Management business unit.
Founded in 1988, Sylvain Faust develops tools that enhance programmer productivity and can save up to 50% of a programmer`s time. Its client/server solutions support Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase.

Sylvain Faust`s products are designed to make application programmers and DBAs more productive, develop higher quality, more reliable applications, enhance their ability to manage and meet project timelines, and monitor and optimise database performance. Products include SQL-Programmer, which provides a complete development environment for Oracle PLAN/SQL, Sybase, and Microsoft Transact-SQL programmers. Its user interface and extensive tool-set allow for creation, management and testing of all programmable objects and enable developers and administrators to be more productive, find and fix bugs, improve the quality of applications, and better manage information.
Sylvain Faust`s major customers include AT&T, American Express, Chase Manhattan Bank, Chevron, Citibank/Citicorp, Duke Power, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Human Resources Development Canada and Prudential.
