BMC Software Inc, the systems management and e-vailability company represented locally by CCH, has announced the appointment of Robert E (Bob) Beauchamp as its new president and CEO and a member of the company`s board of directors. Beauchamp succeeds Max Watson, who will remain as chairman and a member of the board until April 30, 2001, and thereafter remain an employee of the company in an advisory capacity until April 2002.
Beauchamp, 41, has been with BMC since 1988 and most recently held the position, senior VP - product management and development. Beauchamp has served in a variety of key positions during his 12 years with the company, including senior VP of research and development, VP of strategic marketing and corporate development, and various sales and sales management positions.
Watson comments: "I have been discussing for sometime with the board the possibility of reducing my duties at BMC Software and have assisted the board in its search for a new president and CEO. I believe the timing is right. As our December quarter results indicate, we are headed in the right direction and making real progress in positioning the company for the future. After interviewing candidates, both internally and externally, the board concluded that clearly the best individual to lead BMC is Bob Beauchamp. Bob has been instrumental in helping BMC to develop the technologies and solutions to meet the needs of our customers."
Beauchamp adds: "As a result of Max Watson`s numerous accomplishments while leading BMC over the past decade, the company has grown to be one of the world`s largest and most profitable independent software vendors. The great culture and working environment at BMC Software is a tribute to his leadership style."
