BMC Software has made its Control-D/WebAccess Server available on the S/390 platform, in effect bringing Web-based reporting to the IBM and compatible mainframe world.
Control-D/WebAccess Server allows end-users to use Web browsers to access, distribute, manage, view and customise reports, images and other documents across the Internet, intranet and extranet. This eliminates the need to manually handle cumbersome and lengthy printouts generated by the many business applications in use today.
"Most companies today deliver 30% to 50% of their application services in the form of a document," says Reg Swart, product manager at local BMC distributor CCH Enterprise Solutions. "They must find a cost-effective and efficient way to make this data easily accessible. BMC has addressed this need with these Web-enabled output management products."
The support for OS/390 means Control-D/WebAccess Server now also addresses the needs of the IBM WebSphere environment.
Reports and other documents are stored in folders and its indexing facility turns the query interface into a data mining tool.
Other features of Control-D/WebAccess Server include automatic conversion of documents; multi-language support; single sign-on to provides quick access to multiple repositories.
