BMC Software has expanded its B2B management strategy with the announcement of Patrol for Ariba Buyer, allowing customers to manage complex B2B environments from a single point of control.
Patrol for Ariba Buyer monitors, manages and optimises a user`s e-procurement experience with Ariba Buyer, the most comprehensive B2B e-commerce application designed to improve management of corporate procurement and operational processes.
Through BMC`s end-to-end management, Patrol for Ariba Buyer monitors Ariba Buyer and the links between the application and its database, Web servers and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to ensure optimisation of the user`s transaction experience.
AMR Research has indicated that the total cost of developing a commercial trading exchange is in the $250- to $500-million range, depending on the industry, number of participants, scope of functionality and global reach.
"The success of these multi-million dollar investments will depend to a large degree on a participant`s quality of experience," says Reg Swart, business unit GM at BMC master distributor MGX. "Lack of robust, focused management capabilities remains a major factor blocking widespread successful implementation of e-business solutions. Management solutions will accelerate the growth of e-business and its evolution to more sophisticated services."
Patrol for Ariba Buyer assures the availability of Ariba Buyer by monitoring Ariba Buyer and the link from Ariba Buyer to catalogues hosted internally, at a vendor site or on an e-marketplace for rapid detection of catalogue outages. It reduces system problem resolution time by proactively monitoring and managing the Ariba core server and reporting problems in realtime as they occur, with detailed diagnostic information that allows administrators rapidly to find the root cause of a system problem.
"We are working with BMC to ensure that Patrol will provide superior management and monitoring of Ariba Buyer," says Dan Fishback, VP, Global Channels, Ariba. "Patrol for Ariba Buyer will allow our customers to establish, monitor and ensure optimal service levels for their Ariba application. It will boost the user experience through ensuring they have always-on, reliable communications for e-procurement, while trimming costs and inefficiencies."
BMC`s Patrol now manages many of the applications that power e-business. It provides continuous service level improvements for e-business companies by setting service levels, managing availability, measuring response time, minimising downtime, increasing performance, predicting growth and reporting against service level agreements. Through a single point of control, customers can manage all applications in the enterprise, including network servers, database servers, Web servers, ERP systems, CRM applications and now, e-procurement systems.
Patrol for Ariba Buyer brings B2B enterprise management to the front office. BMC customers can now monitor and manage their front-office environment in concert with back-office applications.
