BMI-TechKnowledge will host an event that will look at the local telecommunications sector. The BMI-T Telecoms Industry Metamorphosis Forum will take place at Siemens Business Park, in Midrand, on 2 October.
The conference will feature speakers such as Brian Neilson, research director of BMI-TechKnowledge, and Neil Jacobsohn, CEO of FutureWorld SA.
Neilson is expected to outline the three biggest issues in telecoms today. The first of these is convergence, and the movement of mobile operators into the fixed-line space.
Another is whether the issuing of new individual electronic communications network services licences will alter competition.
Rounding up the top three is whether consolidation of companies could result in competition for the major players.
The event aims to address issues like competition in the fixed-line space, the role of mobile operators, and who is set to lead the sector.
