Africa's leading ICT market analysis firm BMI-TechKnowledge has announced that the third Annual BMI-T Digital Cities Forum will be held at Gallagher Estate, Midrand on 4 and 5 October 2007.
The two-day event will focus on the development of municipal and community networks and the delivery of high-speed wireless connectivity across cities. The event has drawn increased interest from delegates and a host of international speakers.
Denis Smit, managing director of BMI-TechKnowledge, says this year's event has drawn increased interest from the industry. "The event is unquestionably South Africa's leading occasion of its kind and is entirely focused on digital cities, municipal broadband and digital inclusion projects. Johannesburg, eThekwini, Ekurhleni, Tshwane and Cape Town have all launched ambitious projects to connect their cities to the digital highway. In addition, provinces such as KZN and Gauteng and others have their own initiatives."
Speakers and exhibitors are expected to share their experience and insights into the exciting prospect of creating digital communities. A highlight of the event will be the E-Leadership breakaway sessions, led by Digital Cities Forum Diamond Sponsor, Cisco South Africa.
"The issue of municipal broadband is becoming an increasingly important issue for network operators, service providers, regulators, equipment vendors and municipalities," adds Smit.
The BMI-T Digital Cities Forum is expected to showcase the latest development in terms of municipal networks from international and local perspectives.
