The second annual BMI-T Digital Cities Forum is to be held in Gallagher Estate Midrand in the first week of October 2006.
The two-day event will focus on the development of municipal and community networks and the wiring up of cities.
The event has drawn increased interest from delegates as a host of international speakers such as Dianah Neff, CIO of Philadelphia; Chris Vein, CIO of San Francisco; and Bailey White, senior partner of Civitium, the global leading consultancy in municipal networks are expected to share their experience and insights into the exciting prospect of creating digital communities. Case studies of SA`s major metros will be presented and the event will be opened by deputy minister of communications Roy Padayachie.
Denis Smit, managing director of BMI-TechKnowledge, says Philadelphia is widely considered as the global de-facto case study for municipal networks and San Francisco is at the forefront of new city broadband business models involving Google and Earthlink.
