ICT company Datatec has appointed professor Wiseman Nkuhlu to its board.
Nkuhlu, whose appointment is with effect from 1 September, will serve as a non-executive director and a member of the audit, compliance and risk committee.
He was trained as a chartered accountant and served articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers and is chairman of Pan-African Capital Holdings. Nkuhlu also holds directorships with Kagiso Trust Investments, Virgin Active SA, Old Mutual SA and Old Mutual, London.
Between October 2000 and July 2005, he served as economic advisor to president Thabo Mbeki and CE of the secretariat of New Partnership for Africa`s Development.
Datatec CEO Jens Montanana says the extensive experience Nkuhlu brings to the table in the areas of corporate governance and strategic leadership, in both the financial services and industrial sectors, will add "exponential value" to Datatec.
"He has a depth and breadth of experience that will immediately broaden our non-executive skills base," he says. "The extensive experience Nkuhlu has serving on audit committees will also prove invaluable."
