Boland PKS selects Prism as the bank's e-commerce partner

Johannesburg, 19 Jan 1999

Boland PKS has chosen Prism to install a Trintech PayGate SET payment gateway which will provide the bank's merchants and customers the ability to have financial transactions accepted, cleared and settled across a secure Internet connection. As part of this deal, Prism will also supply end-to-end commerce services to Boland's current and future merchant client base.

"Prism has an extensive track record in the implementation of payment and commerce solutions for some of South Africa's largest financial institutions and retailers. Their broad knowledge of transaction processing, payment and security in both the virtual and physical world makes them a perfect partner for us in this new business channel," comments Johan Rothman, manager of Internet Banking at Boland PKS. "BOE is committed to e-commerce and committed to the SET standard, and we are going to be aggressively proactive about developing the market."

Steven Sidley, MD of Prism Transactive, the Prism subsidiary which responsible for the Boland e-commerce technologies, remarked "The time frame used to complete the project was phenomenal, taking less than two months from the signing of the deal to processing the the first SET transaction. Boland has been both far-sighted and aggressive in their approach to the upcoming avalanche of virtual world e-commerce, not only offering one of the most sophisticated and secure virtual payment gateways available worldwide, but also guiding merchants all the way through the setting up, marketing and maintaining of an online commerce business." Sidley's own background includes executive positions at The Internet Solution and VWV Interactive.

The Trintech Group, a Dublin and Silicon Valley-based payment technology provider, is one of the global leaders in the field of both physical and virtual world e-commerce software technologies, offering advanced software solutions for the SET (Secure Electronic Transaction) standard approved by Visa and MasterCard. Trintech solutions have been installed at many of Europe's major financial institutions, as well as in a number of North and South American card association payment gateways.
