Borland selects Sonic Software to deliver industry-leading e-business messaging

Johannesburg, 28 Sep 2001

Borland Software Corporation, a leading provider of e-business platform solutions, and Sonic Software, a leader in e-business messaging (EBM) software and services, today announced an agreement to deliver best-in-class messaging functionality for Borland customers.

Borland will integrate SonicMQ 3.5, the industry-leading Java Messaging Service (JMS), with the next release of Borland AppServer, a leading application server that supports a mixed Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and CORBA framework. Additionally, Sonic MQ Developer Edition integrated with Borland AppServer is included with Borland JBuilder Enterprise Edition, the leading Java development environment.

Messaging is an essential component of any e-business platform. By integrating SonicMQ, the most widely used JMS implementation, Borland will provide AppServer customers with Java messaging functionality in a single installation. This integrated environment will provide a seamless user experience, delivering business-critical data across incompatible systems and reducing the complexity of building mission-critical e-business applications.

"Our partnership with industry leader Borland exemplifies our commitment to bringing best-in-class Java-based technology to today`s extended enterprise," said Greg O`Connor, President of Sonic Software. "The combination of SonicMQ and Borland`s award-winning AppServer offers customers a clear path to support the forthcoming J2EE standard, and a secure, reliable way to exchange business-critical information between enterprise applications."

"With SonicMQ we get more than just JMS, we get Sun certified J2EE compatibility that will scale to meet the real-world transactional needs of our customers," said Manoli Rodokanakis, Country Manager for Borland Southern Africa. "Sonic Software pioneered Java messaging and remains the market leader. Including Sonic`s industry leading e-business messaging solution with Borland AppServer will help our customers continue to gain faster time-to-market while lowering their total cost of ownership."
